Before filling in an e-visa form or paying a service fee, check whether the passport you will use is eligible. Residence in an eligible country does not make a different nationality eligible.
These passports are not on the e-visa list
The current Russian Foreign Ministry list does not include the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia or New Zealand. Do not select another nationality simply to continue an online form. A private agency cannot change the official eligibility rules.
Check the regular visa route
If you need a visa and are not eligible for the unified e-visa, consult the Russian embassy, consulate or its designated visa application centre responsible for your place of residence. Requirements depend on travel purpose, nationality and consular jurisdiction. Confirm the current application location, document list, appointment process and processing time before sending your passport or booking travel.
A tourist visa may require supporting documents that the e-visa does not. Use the instructions from the office handling your application; a generic online checklist is not a substitute for that office's requirements.
If you hold more than one nationality
Check eligibility for each relevant passport and disclose all citizenship information requested by the application. The passport associated with a visa must match the document used for the corresponding entry. Ask the responsible consulate about your individual circumstances before applying if you are unsure.
Russian citizens, including people who also hold another nationality, are subject to Russian-citizen entry and exit requirements. The Foreign Ministry directs them to use valid Russian identity documents for those purposes. Official guidance for Russian citizens.
Choosing a visa service
- Confirm that the offered service matches your nationality and travel purpose.
- Identify the company providing the service and its contact details.
- Read the price, included work and cancellation or refund terms before paying.
- Do not rely on a promise of guaranteed approval or a guaranteed border admission.
Plan your travel separately
A visa decision does not establish that a route is operating or that transit conditions are satisfied. Check current official travel advice, your carrier's requirements and any transit-country rules before departure.
