Medical insurance for Russia
Before travelling, check that your medical insurance is suitable for your trip and valid in Russia for the required dates.
What the official e-visa rules say
The Russian Foreign Ministry's conditions require e-visa holders to have medical insurance valid in Russia throughout their stay, except for nationalities exempt on a reciprocal basis. Read the official conditions for the applicable rule.
Check the policy itself
- Russia is included in the territorial cover for your circumstances.
- The cover dates include your full stay.
- The policy covers the activities you plan.
- You understand exclusions, limits, deductibles and assistance arrangements.
- You have the policy number and emergency contact details available during travel.
Ask the insurer for written clarification if the policy wording is unclear. A product name or a general statement about worldwide cover does not replace checking the actual contract.
Insurance information and visa approval
The official FAQ explains that missing insurance details in the application are not themselves a reason to refuse an e-visa or entry. This does not cancel the separate requirement to hold applicable cover during the stay. Official insurance FAQ.
Choosing and buying a policy
You may arrange suitable cover with an insurer of your choice. Insurance is a separate contract from visa assistance. Check the insurer's current terms, price and eligibility before buying. We do not promise that a particular policy guarantees visa approval or entry.
